20” x 16” oil on wood panel, 2023.

I was working on two paintings a couple months ago when I got the worst sinus infection I’ve had since childhood. The pieces were at the point of needing detail work, but I felt so bad that any attempt to complete them would probably not have ended well, so I decided to start something new. When beginning a painting, the strokes are placed far more loose and with bigger brushes so I figured this was the way to go. Plus, if you mess something up early on, it’s much easier to cover than in the later stages.

As it started to feel better, I decided to stick with the loose brushstrokes and paint fairly thick because it was looking pretty cool.
