This is another one that I painted this year when the weather began to warm up and I subconsciously started using brighter colors.
 
Once I had decided on the reference image, I knew that I wanted to keep the background fairly simple, but it took a while to figure out exactly what was needed. For the horizontal lines, I decided to go mostly with natural colors. The two at the bottom are the colors of pool water and the two at the top are the colors of the sky. I thought a thick yellow portion would make sense being that she’s in the sun. For the middle section, I went with pink because I felt that it is the color of this lady’s overall vibe.
