20” x 16” oil on linen panel, 2024.
When I first decided to do the differing polka dot patterns, I didn’t know if it would really work. About halfway through I started to second-guess myself, but after completion, I really started to dig it. I think it works well.
I had trouble thinking of a title for this one. The lady in the painting seems strong and self assured, so I wanted a title that would reflect that, but could not think of anything for quite a while. I wasthen in a gas station and John Waite’s song of the same title was playing. While it’s not the kind of music I usually jam to, I felt the title was fitting and conveyed exactly what I was wanting.
