20” x 16” oil on linen panel, 2024.
This piece turned out a bit different than I originally had imagined. My first idea was to paint the figures in black-and-white and then put thin glazes of color over each of them. One chicken was going to be blue, one green, and for the lady I was thinking pink.
After the black-and-white part was finished, I realized that I liked it too much to change the colors. I still think a green chicken would be cool, but I think I made the right choice. For the background, I wanted something that was simple, but not too simple. Since I love a good polka dot, I tested it out and really liked the results.
